Sheep May 2017 007.JPG

The Thurnwood Flock is a small flock started with ten foundation ewes from the dispersal sale of the Southover Flock.

The Portland is a small sheep, with a cream fleece and golden tan face and legs. Both sexes are horned. Once common all over Dorset, it nearly became extinct in the 1970s.  Though it has recovered, it is still listed as 'at risk' and is now one of the rarest breeds in Britain.

We lamb in late April and visitors from our holiday cottages are welcome to visit the lambing shed and see lambing at first hand.
